Here is a sample of what you'll learn in Word. More tips are on the site than what you see here.

WORD

Always show full menus. By default, the Microsoft software is set to only show recently used commands when you click a menu such as Tools. Then you have to expand the list. It's easy to change this to always show the entire list. Do this now and all of my instructions will make more sense. You only have to make the change in one application and it takes effect in the others.

Mail merge labels using an Excel spreadsheet as the database (or data source).

This tip is in five segments as follows:

Use Excel as a mail merge data source. Brief description of how it should look.

Get started. Display the mail merge toolbar and add a hidden mail merge button to it.

Create the label layout. Choosing the type of label you want.

Arrange your labels. Adding the merge fields (name, address, etc.)  and completing the merge.

Mail merge using Excel as the data source - and add artwork to label. Preview previous four mail merge movies before this one because it's a longer lesson. Create mailing labels with mail merge and add your company logo to them. You can use this same technique to create name badges, tent cards, and so on. In Word, display your rulers by clicking View, Ruler.

Mail merge labels  using Outlook Contacts as the database (or data source).

This tip is in two segments as follows:

Establish Categories for Contacts and filter for the merge. Once you separate Contacts using Categories you can filter just those Contacts and create a document just to those people.

Set up labels and complete the merge. This video is about 3.5 minutes. It picks up where the previous lesson leaves off and takes you through to the complete merge.

Customize your toolbar and add the Mail Recipient as Attachment button to it. Once you add this button to your toolbar, just click it and the document you're in will become attached to a new email message.

(I'll reference customizing your toolbar in a lot of these lessons so learn this one. The technique works the same in the other software.)
